Hygiene and quality compliance are paramount at every stage of the food supply chain, from producer to consumer. Effective temperature control, traceability and on-time delivery are key to guaranteeing food safety and freshness. Load carriers such as crates play an important role in this respect.

The material used for these transport items must adhere to strict standards in terms of safety. It must also be able to cope with cold temperatures in a cool cell or refrigerated storage and keep products fresh, striking a balance between ventilation and sealing. Crates must have a practical design with no unnecessary grooves or ridges, enabling quick processing and easy cleaning on the shop floor.

Certifications

Hollarts’ crates and other load carriers for food transport meet all applicable requirements and are certified under the following schemes and standards.

FSSC 22000

The FSSC 22000 is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) approved food safety standard for the food manufacturing industry. The standard is based on the ISO 22000 standard, but defines additional requirements. It was developed to provide consumer confidence about the safety of their food and is applicable throughout the supply chain.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management systems. It was developed by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) and is published by NEN in the Netherlands as NEN-EN-ISO 9001. The certification is evidence that our processes comply with international standards and regulations. It also demonstrates our commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Certifications are awarded for three years (one certification cycle). A full audit of all aspects of the organisation and applicable processes takes place in the first year. A surveillance audit takes place in the second and third year, leading to recertification if successful.
