Logistics and supply chain

How big? How stackable? How nestable? How much load? Reusable packaging must live up to an array of demands that are unique to each supply chain. Hollarts is aware that each buyer has unique needs, which is why we offer bespoke designs and production methods. Our logistics solutions comply with the most stringent requirements in terms of quality, structural robustness and (if required) food safety.

European pallet dimensions

Transport efficiency suffers if load carriers cannot be easily transported on a pallet or carrier on castors. That’s why packaging is sized according to standard pallet dimensions. Hollarts’ stock crates are based on the Euro pallet (EPAL) dimensions (80 x 120 cm). We offer pallets in one-quarter (40 x 60 cm), one-eighth the size (40 x 30 cm) and any other dimension you can think of!

Ergonomics and usability

A good transport item is easy to load and unload, easy and safe to stack, and easy to clean. It should help rather than hinder shop floor operations. Hollarts integrates these principles into each design in a variety of ways: adding user-friendly grips, avoiding sharp edges and corners and ensuring folding mechanisms pose no trapping risk for fingers.

Pooling systems and tracking

Hollarts regularly produces load carriers for pooling service providers. These load carriers are shared by multiple users in two types of ‘pool’.

The first is a ‘closed’ pool: the original owner collects the transport item after one use by producers and retailers. The second is an ‘open’ pool: the load carriers are branded with a label or logo and can be freely used by all participants in the pool.

Crucially, pool products must be robust and, in some cases, repairable. They may also require QR codes, RFID labels or chips for identification and traceability. Hollarts can advise on the best solution for you.

Load carriers often represent a blind spot in supply chain optimisation. We can highlight all the potential efficiency gains for you.
